Lost Child is a series of artworks that laments how the complex traumas of my childhood have shaped the ways that I show up every day in adulthood.

Low self-worth, difficulty forming relationships, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety have plagued my psyche and caused me to perceive the world through a negative lens.

In learning that these traumas are cyclical, and are often passed down from generation to generation, it was up to me to break the cycle. Grieving the love and attention that I never received from my household as a child allowed me to find compassion for myself. These were the first steps to recovering my sense of self.

Ultimately, this show is a love letter to my parents whom, despite their flaws, I would not be here without. I’ve loved you both more than you’ve allowed me to express.
